AT 5 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE IRENE WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 29.3N...LONGITUDE 77.2W. THIS WAS ABOUT 710 MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF ATLANTIC CITY NJ. STORM MOTION WAS NORTH OR
360 DEGREES AT 14 MPH. STORM INTENSITY WAS 110 MPH. 

DANGEROUS HURRICANE IRENE IS FORECAST TO TRACK NORTH NORTHEAST
THROUGH SUNDAY, WHICH BRINGS THE CENTER VERY NEAR THE NEW JERSEY
COAST ON SUNDAY. THE STORM WILL BRING STRONG AND DAMAGING WINDS,
TORRENTIAL RAINFALL AND COASTAL FLOODING. THE AMOUNT OF RAINFALL
ANTICIPATED IS 6 TO 12 INCHES. THIS AMOUNT OF RAIN IN COMBINATION
WITH A RATHER WET MONTH WILL LEAD TO AREAS OF FLOODING. THERE IS
THE POTENTIAL FOR MAJOR FLOODING IN SOME LOCATIONS. WHEN MAKING
DECISIONS, DO NOT FOCUS ON THE EXACT FORECAST TRACK AS THIS HURRICANE
IS A LARGE STORM. THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION,
THEREFORE EVERYONE IS URGED COMPLETE THEIR PREPARATIONS TODAY.

JERSEY STARTS AT 8 AM TODAY.
MANDATORY EVACUATIONS IN ATLANTIC COUNTY, NEW JERSEY BEGAN AT 6 AM
TODAY.
