The Wildwoods, NJ – October 24, 2011 – Halloween weekend in the Wildwoods will be full of tricks, treats, and spookily fun events for all ages starting Friday, October 28 through Monday, October 31.
Halloween in the Wildwoods kicks off Friday, October 28 with the Annual Halloween Parade, followed by the FREE Halloween Fun Fair at the Wildwoods Convention Center, located at 4501 Boardwalk in Wildwood. The parade is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. at Wildwood and Pacific Avenues, proceeding south and ending at the Wildwoods Convention Center. Float and non-float divisions of the parade must be registered, and the winners from the parade will be announced at the Halloween Fun Fair, set to take place 7-9:30 p.m., following the parade inside the Wildwoods Convention Center. The Halloween Fun Fair will feature games, prizes and a ghoulishly good time for the entire family. All attendees are encouraged to join in the fun by wearing Halloween costumes. A new Halloween event this year, Morey’s Fears Terror on the Boardwalk, will take place Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29 on Mariner’s Landing Pier from 6:30-11 p.m. In addition to dark incarnations of the Sea Serpent, Super Scooters, Tea Cups, Pirates of the Wildwoods, Rollie’s Coaster and Moby Dick, visitors can expect an especially traumatizing Ghost Ship experience as well as two frightening, all-new Halloween maze attractions that will only be available during Morey’s Fears, along with themed food and beverages. Morey’s Fears is not recommended for children under the age of 8. Guests are not permitted to wear masks, costumes and/or makeup to the event. The Wildwoods Boardwalk Pumpkin Run, a ghoulishly fun and exciting family event for all ages, will also take place on Saturday, October 29. This festive boardwalk event offers a 5K and 10K run along with a 1-mile family walk, starting at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. inside the Wildwoods Convention Center. Participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite Halloween costumes and vie for the prizes in the best dressed categories of Family, Youth, Infant, and Best All Around, with all proceeds benefiting the four Elementary Schools located in the Wildwoods. Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children and teens 18 and under. All participants will receive a Pumpkin Run T-shirt. On Sunday, October 30, at 6:30 p.m., the Wildwood Crest Recreation Department will host their Annual Halloween Trunk or Treat. The event will include adults bringing their Halloween-decorated vehicles to the Wildwood Crest Pier parking lot at Heather Road and Ocean Avenue, where they will distribute candy from the trunks of their vehicles to children dressed for Halloween. The event includes other Halloween related activities, a DJ, refreshments and prizes awarded to the best decorated vehicles. Trunk or Treat is a FREE event, but vehicles must be pre-registered to take part. Registration forms are available at the Crest Pier Recreation Center. On Monday, October 31 – Halloween evening – the Greater Wildwood Elks will host a FREE Halloween Haunted House at the Elks Lodge, located at 1st and New Jersey Avenues in North Wildwood.
