WILDWOOD CREST— Lisa Fitzpartick’s memories of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 are filled with the pain of losing a longtime friend.
Andrew Alameno, a 37-year-old former Wildwood Crest resident worked for Cantor Fitzgerald and was on the 104th floor in the North Tower when American Airlines Flight 11 was flown into the tower at 8:46 a.m. Moments later, at 9:03 a.m., United Airlines Flight 175 hit the South Tower.
At 9:37 a.m., American Airlines Flight 37 crashed into the Pentagon. The last of the four hijacked planes crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pa., at 10:03 a.m.
The South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. after burning for 56 minutes in a fire caused by the impact airline. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. after burning for 102 minutes.
On the 10 anniversary, Fitzpatrick wants to remember the day and honor those who lost their lives with a procession to the beach and a line of joined hands that stretches along the water’s edge.
