Each participant’s motivation to walk is a story they are quick to share. It may be for themself, a loved one or a friend or it may be because someone they care about or their employer asked them to participate. Each year, more than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults – approximately 80 people per day – are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in the United States. We walk for them, and as many as 3 million Americans that have T1D. Who’s your #1?

While you’ve been reading, another person was diagnosed with diabetes.
Did you know:

T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?
T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle?
Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night?
Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood 6 or more times a day?

Be a HeroYou Can Be a Hero to Someone with T1D.

If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening. And they know it never goes away. When you register for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, you join nearly a million people in 225+ locations across America in becoming a hero to someone with type 1 diabetes.
Why JDRF?
