DID YOU KNOW? New Jersey is the birthplace of the American boardwalk — and it all started in 1870 when Atlantic City built the first one just to keep sand out of hotel lobbies.

One summer later, the boardwalk boom began… and the Jersey Shore never looked back. From Atlantic City’s rolling chairs to Ocean City’s family vibe to Wildwood’s neon and giant beaches, every boardwalk has its own story — and together they shaped the Shore we love today.
