Alpacino Carrero, 20, of Philadelphia, and a 17-year-old boy from West Wildwood were arrested for an assault near a Jersey Shore beach that left a victim unconscious. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest in a statement on Wednesday.
Charged with second-degree crimes of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, the 17-year-old also faces additional charges of second-degree aggravated assault, first-degree robbery, and a third-degree weapons offense.
The incident occurred when police in North Wildwood responded to a report of a fight at the intersection of 13th and Central avenues at 1:05 a.m. on Monday. Three injured adults were found at the scene, one of whom was unconscious after being struck with a bottle.
All three victims were taken to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional for treatment. The perpetrators had fled before the arrival of the police.
The motive behind the first-degree robbery charge against the teen remains unclear at this time. Both Carrero and the 17-year-old are currently in custody awaiting their court appearances.
