What would Fall be without the smell of chili simmering on the stove? Get a true taste of the Jersey Shore on Sunday, September 30 during Morey’s Piers’ 2nd Annual Souper Sunday Chili and Chowder Cook Off starting at 11 a.m. on the boardwalk at Mariner’s Landing.
Got a great chili or chowder recipe? It’s FREE to register in one of the two categories – Individual or Professional (for restaurants and caterers). Each team that enters the competition receives two all-day, unlimited ride passes to Morey’s Piers and the chance to have their entry be named Best Chili or Chowder. Plaques will be awarded to the winners in each division. There will be a $500 cash prize for the Best Overall.
“Last year’s event produced some of the best chili and chowders we’ve tasted. This year we changed it up a bit and teams can enter the cook off at no cost and compete for a $500 cash grand prize,” said Kristel Fillmore, Morey’s Events and Entertainment Manager. “The cook off is a fun and tasty way to celebrate fall.”
The competition will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 30 with a two-hour cooking period. Public tastings will begin at 1 p.m. Guests can purchase tasting kits online at www.store.moreyspiers.com for $10. Tasting kits include five taste tickets, tasting cups and a Guest’s Choice Ballot.
