Big news for North Wildwood. After years of erosion battles, emergency work, and nonstop debate, the Seawall and Bulkhead Extension project has been approved — a major step toward protecting our shoreline, homes, and infrastructure.
This extension will strengthen the existing seawall, add critical storm‑protection measures, and help safeguard the north end from the severe ocean damage we’ve seen season after season.
It’s been a long road, but this is a win for residents, visitors, and the future of our island. Construction details and timelines will be shared as they’re released.
North Wildwood keeps fighting — and today, we move forward.
1). The construction of a stone seawall adjacent to JFK Boulevard between 3rd and 7th Avenues,
2). Realignment of the current steel bulkhead from 5th to 7th Avenues.
3). Construction of a concrete cap between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.
4). New bulkhead from 13th connecting to 15th Avenue, to fill in the gap that exists at present.
5). A new bulkhead from 3rd to 5th Avenues.
The NJDEP also legalized all existing bulkheads along the oceanfront.
