Springsteen and musical dream team on board for Sandy relief show: 12-12-12

The East Coast is still picking up the pieces after Hurricane Sandy made her mark on the area last month. Even though NBC’s telethon brought in a staggering amount of dough, there is still a great need for the victims of the horrific storm.

E! reports on Friday that the all-star benefit concert referred to as “12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief” at New York City’s Madison Square Garden is promised to be “a showcase of music royalty” according to organizers James Dolan, John Sykes and Harvey Weinstein.

“The response from the entertainment community to help those most affected by Hurricane Sandy has been nothing short of astounding,” the organizers note in a statement.

It’s not a big surprise to fans that Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and Billy Joel are more than willing to participate in the event since they are all from areas that were affected by Sandy’s wrath.

The concert should be quite diverse as Roger Waters, Alicia Keys and Kanye West are all on the bill as well. When the organizers dubbed the event as “a showcase of music royalty” they may have been referring to Sir Paul McCartney as he will be lending his chops for the benefit too.

McCartney isn’t the only Englishman to jump in and lend a hand as The Who is scheduled to appear as well.

The event certainly has something for everyone so hopefully everyone watching will be inclined to donate.

There will be more details to come as additional performers will be announced in the near future according to the organizers as well as information regarding ticket availability.
