Mayor Ernie Troiano Announces the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Awarded the City of Wildwood a Grant of $400,000 to Improve Accessibility to the Municipal Police Building.

Wildwood, New Jersey (January 16, 2019) – The City of Wildwood has received notice from Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver that the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs has awarded the City of Wildwood a Small Cities grant of $400,000 to improve access to the Police Department for persons with disabilities. “This grant is the first step in providing accessibility to the police department for all persons, which is especially important for victims and witnesses,” stated Mayor Ernie Troiano. With the grant the City will make the main entrance to the Police Department more accessible by building a ramp and enlarging the lobby to accommodate wheelchairs. Mayor Troiano also advised the City is now applying for a second phase of Small Cities funding to gain accessibility to the second floor of the Police Department for persons with disabilities. Access to the second floor is necessary for victims to give statements in interview rooms and for employees to have full building access. ###
