Wildwood, NJ “The Birthplace of Rock and Roll” rocks the beach with Country Music Superstar Kenny Chesney

Dick Clark said that Wildwood, NJ was” The Birthplace of Rock and Roll” back in the 50’s when Chubby Checker rocked this 5 mile island, and Clark hosted dances at the Starlight Ballroom only 3 blocks from last nights amazing show put on by Country Music Superstar Kenny Chesney.

The Wildwood Beach literally rocked this island as the biggest event this island has ever seen in 100 years, as the music could be heard in West Wildwood a few miles from the packed beach and American Express Sponsored Unstaged Kenny Chesney concert last night on an outdoor stage between Morey’s Piers Mariner Landing Pier and Wild Wheel Pier, as over 50,000 cowboys and cowgirls  filled the World Famous Wildwood, New Jersey Beach and Boardwalk to see this historic event. It was also streamed Live on YouTube.

“Welcome to the Fishbowl,” his fifteenth album, was released on June 19  — one day before the Wildwood concert. Call it a record release party.

According to a press release, Chesney considered Seaside Heights as a location for this concert, but chose Wildwood after seeing its wide and beautiful beach.

This is an historical event for this Jersey Shore Island Town that is celebrating it’s Centennial this year and boast the worlds cleanest and safest beaches, and has an Ocean Front Arena at the Wildwood Convention Center which looks over the beach and Atlantic Ocean, and America’s Boardwalk the last of the great American Boardwalks with 2 miles of stores, restaurants and games, along with 3 Morey’s Amusement Piers and 2 award winning water parks, Kenny Chesney mentioned in his concert last night that in all the year he has been on the road he has never been to a place like this with such beautiful back drops. Well Kenny, we hope you put us on every tour !!

I grew up on this island and my grandfather was born in Avalon in 1911 so I have hear many stories about this island over the years, and often all  about Wildwood’s hay day back in the 50’s (before my time).  But Jerry Blavat who told us in a recent interview that Wildwood was ” The Las Vegas of the east coast back then”, well guess what?  Today, as the sun rises and shines through the Ferris Wheel , The CIty of Wildwood is on the map again as the “Nashville of the East Coast”

Special thanks to Kenny Chesney for an unbelievable show that showered this Island with his country music hits your could hear from your porch just about anywhere in town, WOW is all I can say..Thanks to American Express, The Wildwood Convention Center. Morey’s Piers, and  to Mayor Ernie Troiano and the Widwood Police and Fire.

But a special thanks to the City of Wildwood employees, from everyone at city hall, the public works dept,  the event coordinators and everyone else.

Few know who your are, but your work is loved and enjoyed by millions that have visited this island, thank you for your work behind the scenes to make this the great event it was,  I just wanted people to know that this small town team can handle any big time event !!  Leave the stage up and bring Bruce Springsteen next week !!  Hey Bruce !!  Call my personal cell phone at 1-609-849-8848 – You should rock our beach next week because “There’s  no place like Wildwood, NJ”

Spread the love
