Wildwood Crest 12/19/2012


 

Last night was gift tagging night at Gia’s restaurant at 7400 Ocean Ave, Wildwood Crest for “A Gift From Gia” and there were hundreds of toys, and stuffed animals for boys and girls. Gia Chiarella passed away in December of 1998, and the following year her family Father Vincent, Mother Bethie and Sister Mia Chiarella initiated a program called “A Gift from Gia”, they requested donations of gifts for the patients in Cooper’s P.I.C.U., for children aged newborn through eighteen. In our first year, we proudly delivered a huge van full of toys and presents.

13 years later family and friends where there again at Gia’s Restaurant to tag the gifts and pack trucks full of toys for good girls and boys for the trip to Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ. The hospital has permanently cleared out a storeroom for the gifts from the angel of the P.I.C.U. When the gifts are distributed, the families ask who Gia is, the staff tells them her story, and so her name goes on.

 

I could tell last night her mother Bethie was so happy to see so many family and friends helping out again for ” A Gift From Gia” and of course everyone is thinking about Gia tonight!
