North Wildwood – The Christmas season has officially begun in North Wildwood after Mayor Patrick Rosenello lit the Christmas tree at Hereford Inlet Lighthouse on Friday, December 5, 2014.
Rainy, damp weather couldn’t stop hundreds of jolly residents, vacationers and visitors from enjoying the traditional celebration that included introductions from Mayor Rosenello, the pledge of allegiance recited by Blake Rosenello, music by the Margaret Mace Choir, and a visit from Santa Claus.

Attendees sung Rocking around the Christmas tree with the Margaret Mace Choir, enjoyed a warm cup of cocoa with cookies, and partook in a complimentary tour of the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse. Some even reminded Santa of what they want for Christmas! Guests who made a $10 donation also received a CD, “Songs from the Hereford Light” limited edition by Lighthouse keeper Peter Harp. Harp, a professional banjo player from Marmora and a longtime supporter of the Lighthouse, had even written a couple of Christmas carols that were performed at this year’s annual Christmas tree lighting.

“This is a great event filled with history that the town looks forward to each year. It is a true marker that the Christmas season is formally underway, and the Lighthouse does a beautiful job decorating the courtyard for Santa’s arrival” said Mayor Rosenello
