New Jersey town raised $250K to rebuild their boardwalk

A city’s boardwalk destroyed by Hurricane Sandy will rebuilt it’s 1.3 mile boardwalk  at the cost of 6 million dollars with the towns “Buy a Board” program that ranges from $25.00 to $5,000 to have your name listed at the entrance to the beach on the street of your choice.

The town is Belmar, NJ and most of the people who participated in the program are from out of town and from as far away as California.

It’s a great idea that more towns along the Jersey Shore might adopt, since most are island towns that have to deal with storms and flooding all year long.
