“American Express Unstaged,” in partnership with VEVO and YouTube, is teaming up with Kenny Chesney and director Jonathan Demme for a special concert experience in Wildwood, NJ on June 20,” said a statement released by Suasion Communications.
“This performance is completely sold out. In accordance with the Wildwood Police Department and local safety code, anyone without a valid ticket will be denied access to the grounds and is strongly encouraged NOT to travel to the venue.”
Over 20,000 tickets were issued to the free concert, said a representative of American Express, sponsors of the concert.
“This is going to be an unforgettable experience for fans in Wildwood and those enjoying the livestream wherever they are,” said Chesney. “Working with Jonathan Demme to bring together the elements of my new album to this classic American beach boardwalk venue has been terrific.”
Workers were seen Sunday, June 17 assembling the large stage on the Schellenger Avenue beach. Bleachers were set inside a cordoned off area surrounding the stage. A chain link fence was being erected while riggers worked on metal towers that will support the stage’s immense canopy.
Sitting to the side of the stage were modular trailers and generators that will power the energy needs for the concert.
