Women’s History Month – Wildwood Fire Departments first full-time female firefighter, Christina Sacco Story

June 1, 2016, will forever be celebrated in Wildwood’s history. On this day, the Wildwood Fire Department hired its first full-time female firefighter, Christina Sacco. Christina is a lifelong Wildwood resident and daughter of the Wildwood Fire Captain, Aldo Sacco. She began her involvement in firefighting at the age of 14, when she joined the volunteer firehouse. With dedication and perseverance, Christina fulfilled her dream at the age of 21 years. At a time when females make up only one percent of both career and volunteer firefighters in the State of NJ, Christina is a role model to women everywhere.
