While filming and taking pictures of the Saint Ann’s rectory we noticed that the signs had been removed from Coastal Prime restaurant across the street, so we contacted the owner and our friend to see what was going on with the restaurant.
This morning we just spoke with the owner, Jell Ziccardi from Coastal Prime restaurant at Glenwood and Pacific Avenue in Wildwood New Jersey and he told us sadly he will not be open for the 2021 season.
Coastal Prime open their doors for the first time in 2020 during the covid-19 pandemic. Jeff told us that limited indoor seating and cancellations of events were factors in closing.
But the biggest issue he said was the lack of support and funds from the federal government for small businesses like his to stay afloat during these hard times. He noted that Cape May County sends 55 million tourist related tax dollars a year to Trenton and only receives 1 million back.
We told him we wish him the best of luck and hope to see him back in the restaurant business in Wildwood again soon.
